No frivolity today... I have just returned from California, where services were held to celebrate the life and honor the passing of the greatest man I have ever known personally - my father, James Grant Shumway (8/15/28 - 1/11/08). His greatest loves were his family - especially his life-long sweetheart, my mother; his faith; and the ocean. He leaves a legacy of honor, integrity and service, as well as six children, twenty-five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. I was blessed beyond measure to have known him. Here are a few glimpses into his life:

Sue, what a special thing, to see into your father's life. I lost my father 13 years ago. He shared a love of the sea and sailing. Thanks for taking the time to share with us. We continue to think of you. Big Hugs.

I lost my father 26 years ago this past December 28th - and I am so sorry to hear of your father's passing. I love his name since we had a son on 9/13 and named him Grant Lawrence - after my husband's Grandfather and my father - I love the name Grant and I just wanted to convey my sympathies to you and your family - what an amazing tribute and great scrolling memoriam! I am sure he treasured you just as much. All the best and may 2008 be a year of healing for you. Take care. Elisabeth Geers - elisabethgeers@comcast.net
