This oh-so-cool pic was on the blog post today over at Retreat Style, along with some great thoughts. The article made me pause for a few moments to remember where I was and what I was doing when the attacks happened.
So much has changed since then - not just for our country, but in my own personal world. Both of my parents were still alive nine years ago. They were just waking up when I was watching a very surreal newscast and called them to tell them to turn on their television (they were in California, I was in New York).
I have changed locations (and jobs) multiple times since then, I now own a home for the first time in my life, five more grandchildren have been born, marriages have happened and un-happened, ideas have come to fruition and/or been discarded for new/better ones, new friends have joined my circle of acquaintances, old friends have been re-discovered, "life" plans have been re-written - so much change!
And yet, some things remain the same... I still have a husband who rocks my world, children who make me proud, grandchildren that add a whole new layer of family love. I still have a curiosity that leads me to read and learn and try new things pretty much daily. I still have people who count on me and people I count on. I still have work to do and hobbies to pursue. I still have so much to be grateful for - including all of those who "serve and protect" the things I love...
